What is a verruca?
A verruca is a wart on the sole of the foot, caused by a virus. It often looks like a small, hard patch of skin, sometimes with tiny black dots, and can hurt when you walk on it.
Many go away on their own, but some last a long time or keep coming back.
What happens at your appointment
- 1We check it's a verruca, as some things can look similar.
- 2We gently reduce the hard skin over it and start a treatment that suits you.
- 3We give you a simple home care plan to follow between visits.
Common questions
How many visits will I need?
It depends on the verruca. Some clear quickly, others need several visits. We'll talk you through what to expect.
Can children be treated?
Yes. Children under 16 need to come with a parent or guardian.
Can I still go swimming?
Yes. Cover it with a waterproof plaster or a verruca sock to help stop it spreading.
Do you do home visits?
Yes, for NG8, NG9 and NG10 postcodes, Monday to Friday. Please call us to arrange one.
